Julie, at Paddington Counselling and Psychotherapy, is a psychologist providing quality, confidential psychotherapy and counselling. Counselling can be useful – or even life-changing – no matter what the circumstances. These can range from moderate, ongoing work or domestic stress to a major life-crisis. In fact, there are as many different situations and as many different outcomes as there are clients.

More Information

Some people may benefit from learning relaxation techniques or other strategies to manage their mood or anxiety, while others prefer a “sounding board” approach that will work strategically to create positive change in their relationships and lifestyles. Still others may need support at times when their emotional response to their circumstances threatens to overwhelm them.
Julie has worked with people needing support through the grieving process, whether that means dealing with the end of a marriage, the loss of a pregnancy or the death of a loved one.
Many clients need some combination of therapeutic strategies to help them to be active, rather than reactive, in making decisions about their behaviour, relationships or career paths. Julie's approach is eclectic and integrated, focussing on supporting her clients as they identify and move toward achieving their goals.
She has been working in mental health, education and counselling for nearly two decades. Her areas of interest include:

  • Decision-making and crisis counselling

  • Gay and lesbian issues

  • Relationships

  • Sexuality

  • Anxiety and stress management
  • 5
  • Pregnancy issues, including assisted reproduction and termination of pregnancy

  • Childbirth, adoption and parenthood preparation

  • Self-esteem and personal empowerment

  • Grief and loss

Julie believes strongly that life crisis can be a powerful opportunity for personal growth and change, and that with the right support we can learn to make choices about our lives and relationships with integrity and clarity.
